GROUND SCHOOL

Golden Horseshoe Aviation offers an ongoing series of ground school classes as part of a structured curriculum which provides the important academic component of your flight training program.

The ground school will give you knowledge in Air Law, Navigation, Meteorology, and Aeronautics and prepares you to successfully complete the Transport Canada Private Pilot Written examination (PPAER).

GHA’s ground school is offered in weekly 3 hour classes and spans 15 weeks to ensure that every topic can be suitably covered. Transport Canada requires that you receive a minimum of 40 hours of ground school instruction. The program is designed so that you can join the sequence at any time and continue through the program until you have completed the material.

  • VFR Navigation
  • Safety Management Systems
  • Meteorology
  • Airport Operations
  • Human Factors
  • Radio Navigation
  • Air Regulations
  • Aero Engines
  • Medical Factors for Pilots
  • Pilot Decision Making

The cost for Ground School program is $325.00. A Ground School kit is available for $295.00 which contains all of the resources necessary for the program including a branded document bag.

The class room training is delivered using modern technology tools in a comfortable executive boardroom setting. Instruction is supported with Web based e-learning tools.

Classes are run on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 pm to 9:15 pm.  In addition to the regular evening classes, when demand warrants, GHA schedules Weekend Ground School courses throughout the year. This special program runs from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday to provide the busy professional the opportunity to complete their training on their terms.

When you are ready to take your written examination, the Transport Canada Hamilton testing center is conveniently located next door to GHA’s training center.
